For the past few months, I’ve preferred the face mask pattern by Iris Luckhaus (https://www.irisluckhaus.de/en/2020/diy-cloth-mask/) but yesterday I tried a new pattern and really liked it. Dhurata Davies posted her pattern at https://dhuratadavies.com/blogs/things-i-make-and-do/free-face-mask-pattern-and-tutorial. According to the sizing listed on her post, Shep should be an extra-small and Soren a small. But when we tried on the various sizes, Shep prefers the Small size, Soren and I are both Mediums.

This pattern sews up very quickly and I like that there are different sizes to choose from.

I attach a nose strip/wire to give a much better fit for the masks, The nose strips that I use are made out of high grade stainless steel and you sew them on (like sewing a button) instead of sewing a casement within the mask. This approach is much easier. The nose strips (called “Contoured Mask Inserts” by the company) are made by Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise and are available online at https://diymaskusa.com.

Read my previous post (http://bennettplanet.com/posts/400) for instructions on how to easily install the cords and cord locks.
